6/9/12

Although we met and fell for each other at chiropractic school in Bridgeport, CT, we like to think our paths crossed much earlier on I-90 West as we undoubtedly passed each other on our way to our respective undergraduate colleges, Hamilton and Siena. Truthfully, I was most likely the one doing the passing and may even have inspired her to look in her rear-view mirror and think, "who is that Masshole trying to run me off the road?!", followed by laughter as I got pulled over by the New York State Police...love at first sight.
Both of our undergraduate experiences were essentially important to our progression as people and potential physicians and so will always reserve a special place in our hearts. Hence, our excitement to host our wedding in Upstate New York. We're honored that you're considering joining us in celebrating our special day.

HOW TO GET THERE: Hamilton College is located right off of I-90, exit 32. It really is a gorgeous drive from either Boston or New York City (approx 220 miles, 3.5 hours from either), flanked by the Eerie Canal as you wind through mountains and farmland, lots of farmland. If you need to fly in, there is an airport in Syracuse approx 45 minutes away, an airport in Albany 1.5 hrs away, and if you have a private plane, an airport in Rome 20 minutes away. There is also an Amtrak train station in Utica 15 minutes away. For more detailed directions, please click the link at the bottom of the page marked location and input the address you are driving from.

WHERE TO STAY: Accommodations are limited, so I would try to reserve a room as soon as possible. There are guest rooms available on campus at the Bristol Center (315-859-4271). There's also a variety of small hotels and bed & breakfasts scattered within a mile of the college: Arbor Inn @ the Griffin House (315-859-1790); Antique Irish Welsh House (315-853-2911); Amidst the Hedges Inn (315-853-3031); Artful Lodger (315-853-3672); and the Clinton Carriage House (315-292-0952) all have varying sized rooms, suites, and separate condos. If you want a larger hotel and don't mind being 10-15 minutes away, then Vernon Downs Casino and Horsetrack (877-888-3766), Hotel Utica (877-906-1912), and Turning Stone Casino (315-361-7711), are good options.

TRANSPORTATION: Clinton Taxi (315-853-3355) and Yellow Taxi of Syracuse Airport (315-471-5151)

WHAT TO DO: There are a multitude of activities on campus that include taking a walk through the trails, waterfalls, and gardens of the Root Glenn; tennis; volleyball; rock-climbing; a 9-hole golf course; and the Emerson Art Gallery. Grab a coffee down the hill at College Street Cafe; gourmet appetizers at Nola's; cinnamon donuts at the Clinton Cider Mill; Tex-mex grille; BBQ at Piggy Pat's; and the ultimate, The Only Cafe, if you're in the mood for a unique, once in a lifetime culinary experience (don't say I didn't warn you). If you're looking for more excitement, then look into horse races and slot machines at Vernon Downs or PGA level golf and gambling tables at Turning Stone Casino.

WEDDING FESTIVITIES: If you've travelled the 4+ hours to the Hamilton College area, you'll be thankful to know that all the festivities are taking place within steps of each other. Friday night we plan on being out after the rehearsal dinner at either the Village Tavern or Nola's, which are both located in downtown Clinton, if you'd like to meet us for a couple of drinks. On Saturday, the ceremony will begin at 5:30 at the Chapel, followed by cocktail hour on the patio of the Eells House across the street, with dinner and dancing under the tent until midnight-ish. Then, please join us Sunday morning for brunch, which will also take place under the tent, with timing yet to be determined.
